Apprenticeships at Cambridge Precision: A Career Path, Not Just a Qualification.

At Cambridge Precision, apprenticeships are more than a training route – they’re the foundation of our future and a driving force behind the success of the precision engineering sector. In an industry defined by rapid technological advancement, apprenticeships play a vital role in bridging the skills gap. By combining structured education with practical, real-world experience, they ensure we continue to develop a highly skilled workforce capable of sustaining quality and competitiveness.

Investing in Talent, Investing in the Future.

We deeply value our apprentices as integral members of our team from day one, and provide:

  • Tailored mentorship and structured development plans
  • Access to advanced, multi-axis CNC technologies
  • Opportunities to work on real customer projects
  • A culture of continuous learning and progression

Our commitment goes beyond training – we create career pathways. Apprentices are not observers; they are contributors. Their growth strengthens our operational efficiency while preparing the next generation of engineers and professionals to lead the sector forward. We believe apprenticeships should be recognised as a powerful and rewarding career path. The journeys of our team members demonstrate exactly what can be achieved.

Sam – CNC Machining Apprentice

Sam is currently partway through his three-year CNC machining apprenticeship, balancing workshop experience with college study. He thrives on applying what he learns in the classroom directly to practical machining challenges.

His enthusiasm for continuous improvement and pride in his trade reflect the mindset we value at CPL: commitment, curiosity and ambition.

Liam – CNC Turning Apprentice

Like Sam, Liam is progressing through a three-year apprenticeship and is already an integral part of our turning section. Now working on frontline customer products, he is expanding his technical knowledge while contributing to real production output.

His development highlights how apprentices at CPL gain meaningful responsibility early in their careers.

Connor – From Despatch to Accountancy Professional

Connor’s journey demonstrates the flexibility and opportunity within apprenticeships at CPL.

He began as a van driver in our despatch team before moving into material stores, where he started his Level 2/3 Stores Apprenticeship. His determination to grow led him into our accounts department, where he continued his professional development.

Connor has achieved:

  • Level 5 AAT Accountancy

  • Level 7 Apprenticeship – CIMA Accountancy and Taxation

Now progressing through Level 7, Connor is a valuable and driven member of our finance team. His story shows that an apprenticeship is not a fixed path – it’s a launchpad for ambition!

Having now completed his apprenticeship, Eban has become an essential part of our milling division. He oversees multiple machines, sets complex multi-axis equipment and supports colleagues running those machines.

Eban represents the new generation of engineers driving growth and technical advancement within CPL.

Josh – Reigniting a Passion for Engineering

Josh joined CPL with a Level 3 Mechanical Engineering qualification but had previously left the sector due to limited opportunities. Since joining us as an operator, he has reignited his passion for engineering.

Now a key member of our export machining team, Josh sets and proves products, works on new projects and leads by example. His next step is programming – continuing his journey toward becoming a senior machining specialist.

Aaron – Leading Through Development

After completing his apprenticeship, Aaron progressed from setter/operator to leading our export machining division. He now programs complex work, supports team members in overcoming challenges and plays a major role in technical improvement initiatives.

Aaron’s progression reflects our belief that apprenticeships build leaders!
