Cambridge Precision Ltd has a long-standing association with Lucy Cavendish College, and we are pleased to be able to Sponsor the College for one of their most prestigious events, ‘The Lucy Enterprise Challenge.’ This year, the competition saw 14 student teams present projects focused on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Guided by expert mentors, the students generated cutting-edge concepts, received mentorship and pitched to win funding towards implementing their vision.
Participants formed diverse, multi-disciplinary teams, reflecting the College’s commitment to educational and cultural inclusivity, and pooled their varied skills to tackle real-world problems. The Cohorts then pitched their ideas to a panel of judges, competing to win funding towards implementing their vision.
This year’s judging panel included Cambridge Precision Ltd’s Chairman, Richard Hefford- Hobbs (a Fellow Commoner), Professor Dame Madeleine Atkins, & Baroness Perry.
The competition was fierce and after careful consideration, the judges awarded ‘The Lucy Enterprise Prize for Postgraduates’, to team NetList.ai, aimed at offering a modern solution to currently outdated circuit design software, and giving more equitable access to innovation.
The Undergraduates prize was awarded to Coexist. Their project aims to tackle human-elephant conflict in Sri Lanka.
A welcome addition to this year’s Enterprise Weekend was the ‘Baroness Perry Prize for Women’s Enterprise’ in honour of The Baroness Perry of Southwark, the College’s fifth President. This prize was awarded to Learn4Life Namibia, aimed at addressing the lack of quality education for students in Namibia.
All participants greatly benefited from this dynamic and enriching educational experience, giving them increased confidence in their enterprising skillsets.
